Benedict Not Present for Canonizations?

Prefect of the Congregation for Causes of Saints: The emeritus was "not so agile anymore" Vatican (kath.net) The emeritus Pope Benedict XVI. (Photo) was "not as agile as a few months ago". Cardinal Angelo Becciu, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, said for a few journalists, as the ORF reported. Therefore, the 91-year-old probably will not participate in the canonizations on Sunday in St. Peter's Square. Meanwhile, it became known that Pope Francis has visited his predecessor on Saturday in his retirement home Mater Ecclesiae - especially in the run-up to the canonizations. Among the persons who are being canonized, there is also Pope Paul VI, who became the cardinal of the theologian Joseph Ratzinger (later Benedict XVI) from Germany in the consistory of June 27, 1977. As we rapidly approach Christmas, is it just me who sees it, or did McCarrick always have a strong resemblance to this Krampus fella'?

Maybe the "canonisation" of Paul VI is too much of a farce even for him.

It is a farce, but that of Romero even more so. I think "saints" like these can be disavowed/downgraded by a successive Pope. After all, wasn't it Paul VI himself who downgraded out outright took away the title of "Saint" from famous ones like Saint Patrick, Saint Philomena, Saint Veronica, Saint Christopher? That was in 1969.

I am sure both Paul VI, Romero, and in addition "saint" John XXIII will be downgraded by a succeeding Pope not long from now. Don't know if John Paul II deserves to keep his title though.

* They used the excuse that Benedict XVI was well, but not as agile/mobile as he was six months ago to attend the ceremony, but that he would watch it on TV. I wonder what he was thinking. Hopefully it made his regret ever resigning in the first place.

Modernists threw a blanket of uncertainty and rationalist historicism of the supposededly mythical Saint Christopher. Some future churchmen might find that the sanctity of Romero is mythical.

They say that Benedict XVI never resigned the Papacy itself or its title, just the daily job of it. If that's the case, why did they have a conclave in the first place. Anyone could have done his admin work.

Who's "they" as in "they say"?
