Bishop of Frejus-Toulon Opens Churches to SSPX

(Paris) The bishop of Frejus-Toulon, Mgsr. Dominique Rey, issued a decree on May 4, 2017, which allows priests of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X to hold funerals in all churches and chapels of the diocese.

The French bishop, who is known as a friend of the tradition, cited the letter of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei on the occasion for his decree. The Commission had announced last March 27 that Pope Francis officially acknowledged the blessings made by priests of the Society in addition to the Sacrament of Penance.

"Each priest who is a member of the FSSPX, has, from the date of the signing of this decree in the territory of our Diocese of Frejus-Toulon, the necessary authority to accept the marriage promise between the bride and groom who turn to a FSSPX priest for their marriage."

The canonical validity and recognition is valid when the marriage takes place in a church or chapel of the Society before a priest, and the episcopal office is informed in advance. A separate form for these notifications has been attached to the decree. The vows are recorded in the marriage register of the Society, the copy of which is sent annually to the diocese's office.

According to the decree, the funeral ceremony can be celebrated by a priest of the Society in every church or chapel of the diocese. The priest of the FSSPX has to arrange the day and time with the local pastor and inform the Chancellery. In this case, the marriage will be entered in the parish register of the parish in which it was witnessed.

In a related article, 7 priests of the SSPX in France (I think they are priors of SSPX chapels) as well as the superiors of three SSPX-friendly religious communities have spoken out against the agreement between the SSPX and Rome regarding marriages. The article is on a Spanish language blog, so the appropriate language translation can be utilized by clicking on the various language translation flags near the top of the website page:

I think this letter raises some valid points. I'm not above reproducing it here in English.

The link is obviously part of the "Resistance" It says as much in the banner of the webpage and Bishop Williamson is featured prominently.

Thank you Tancred. I agree that the letter raises some valid points. Even if one does not support the Resistance (and that's alright). The 7 seven SSPX priests in question are not part of the Resistance, but are raising serious concerns.

I don't understand well...
Isn't this article confusing FSSPX and SSPX (lefebvrists currently in talks with Rome for their reintegration)?

True Catholics are not "lefebvrists," Jac. True Catholics like the great Marcel Lefebvre and all who believe in the Deposit of Faith and Tradition share that one and only saving Faith. The term "lefebvrist" is one of the many attempts by the true schismatics and heretics today, the Modernists, to shut us up and smear the orthodox remnant. It is sheer malevolence on their part, coming ironically from papolators who now in Brazil idolatrously place statues or paintings of Francis on the altar. Let us not use the terminology of our enemies.

The Priestly Fraternity of St. Plus X is known in Europe (and probably the rest of the world save the U.S. & Canada as the FSSPX. In the U.S. & Canada it's known as the Society of St. Plus X (SSPX).

Also, cor ad cor loquitor is right. They are NOT "lefebvrists" (sic). If it wasn't for +Archbishop Lefebvre, there would be no traditional bishops to ordain priests according to the traditional Latin Rite.

I used to think the same way as you do, but the more I learned about the crisis in the Church, the more I realized that I had been wrong about the Archbishop.

One day, that man will be canonized. You can bank on it.

They *should* raise serious concerns.

As I've said before, the SSPX should not even THINK of "regularization" until the next pontificate.

The SSPX has chapels, churches, convents, monasteries, schools, seminaries, bishops, priests, brothers, Sisters, and dedicated lay faithful who generously give of their time, talents and treasure ($$$) to the SSPX. That's $$$ which is NOT going into diocesan coffers nor Peter's Pence.

As Deep Throat said: "Follow the money."

Some of the biggest events in history have involved a sparse amount of people.(referring to the 7)
Stabbing of Julius Caesar,
The foot of the cross,
The Last Supper,
Sun Records recording Elvis first 78 record.(this moment changed Western Civilization and only 5 ppl were present)
I'm not being sarcastic.
