Vatican Suing Bloggers? Why Do People Who Promote Dissent Object to Being Called Dissenters?

Edit: We thought being called a dissenter would be a badge of honor?

It  looks like Father Volpi is attempting to do the same. The blogger received a threatening letter insisting that he remove blog posts covering the Synod on the Family.  How can you sue someone who says things about you that you've said about yourself?

This blogger sounds absolutely terrified.

Here's a portion of an article in response to Father Rosica's call for more civility in the blogosphere back in 2011 in support of the evil Father Gravel, a Pro-Abort, aberrosexual,  Canadian priest then suing Life Site News, also had all kinds of nasty things to say about faithful bloggers.  Maybe this aberrosexual enabling, Ted Kennedy supporting priest may have bitten off more than he could chew?

[Life Site News] It is in good keeping with Christian charity to seek out and to emphasize the legitimate good that others, including our opponents, may have performed. But how strange it is that the Salt & Light CEO reserves no such kind words for LSN. Surely it is a curious form of “civility” that would rather take the side of one of Canada’s most prominent self-professed “pro-choice” priests in a potentially crippling lawsuit against a pro-life, pro-family news service that has done nothing but report what that priest has said and done during his highly public career.
The open secret is that much of the talk about “civility” we hear nowadays is too often only a ploy to silence, dismiss, and ultimately condemn those with whom one happens to disagree. We saw this clearly in 2009, when Fr. Rosica chastised many pro-life and Catholic leaders for the position they took on the grandiose Catholic funeral given to Senator Ted Kennedy.

There was, of course, plenty of room for legitimate disagreement on the issue. However, in almost the same breath that Fr. Rosica lamented the loss of “civility, charity, mercy and politeness,” he labeled those who had criticized the public funeral for the late pro-abortion senator as “not agents of life, but of division, destruction, hatred, vitriol, judgment and violence,” and described them “as little children bullying one another around in schoolyards - casting stones, calling names, and wreaking havoc in the Church.”
Here's where Rosica lauded dissenter and ex-priest Gregory Baum [PDF Lifesite]:

TORONTO, 22 October, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Liberal Catholic press-people have recently touted a man some call Canada’s leading dissenter since the 1960s - former Catholic priest Gregory Baum - because of his role as an expert, or peritus, to the Canadian bishops at Vatican II. Baum, an advocate of homosexual ‘marriage’ and sex outside of marriage and contraception, was lauded by Fr. Thomas Rosica of Salt and Light TV, Michael Swan of the Catholic Register and also given free reign in the pages of the Scarboro Foreign Missions magazine.
Rosica objects to the term "intrinsically disordered".

Does The Catechism of the Catholic Church contains “expressions or terminology that are offensive or that ordinary people cannot grasp”? So implied Thomas Rosica, CSB, at his lecture on the Synod of the Family broadcast on Salt and Light TV, this past Tuesday, 19, 2015. Apparently the use of “intrinsically disordered” in reference to homosexuality, is an, “expression[s] or terminology that are offensive…”. Fr. Rosica claimed that the Synod did not try to change the teaching of the Church on homosexuality. (For a moment, were we being told that the mid-term relatio was a myth?). He said that the Catechism was not being undermined. But, he then informed the sparse audience that this same relatio contained: “new language that is respectful of people, and avoids expressions or terminology that are offensive or that ordinary people cannot grasp. The lunacy of Francis emboldens them to come out of their holes. Let all these antichrists make themselves known. It will only make it easier to hear the sound of the fissure open. That fissure will separate the sheep from the goats. If they want to choose the ways of the Devil then let them join the other goats of Protestantism, Humanism, Naturalism, Atheism and all the other isms of Freemasonry. Get them out of my Church. I AM SICK OF THE SMELL OF THESE PEOPLE.

If they want the Devil so much then let him take them.

The blogger needs to contact a canon lawyer.

Mundabor has linked to Vox's website. Now I, and millions of others, know lots more about Fr. Tom Rosica than we did a little while ago. It ain't pretty! https://mundabor.wordpress.com/2015/02/19/rosicology-exploring-irregular-couples-and-other-snippets/

Rosica is a wind and piss merchant. He should be defrocked and fired.

Smoke and vinegar - knew in deep trouble when he showed up at the Vatican - really is a network of homos and they are all now in Rome.

What would be the good of contacting a Canon Lawyer? Should one defend the blogger, Francis would retaliate and destroy the Canon Lawyer. Francis just about caused me to lose my faith but thanks to this site I continue to have my faith intact. The Modernists in Rome have now become a source of entertainment for me. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary lead us to victory.

Twelve months ago Rosica was a hero among Conservative Catholics.

And the 'Romans' are sharpening their knives. We haven't seen the last of this yet. This is just the beginning. Without a doubt this is the beginning of their 'campaign' leading up to the 2015 'Sin-Od'. They don't want anything standing in their way of 'revamping' Catholicism. A very sad way to start Lent, but I do believe this kind of thing will get worse before it gets better.

From what I understand, Fr. Rosica is kind of the' English counter part' to Fr. Lombardi in the Vatican Press Office. The Vatican Press Office's job is to 'echo' the Holy Father's sentiments. Fr. Lombardi is Fr. Rosica's direct superior.......and then of course next is the Holy Father himself. What we SHOULD be hearing is an apology and 'clarification of a mistake' from the Vatican........But.........Don't hold your breath waiting.

I imagine this post of mine is late into the fray, but I would argue that as sons of the Church disputes between clergy and Faithful must needs be taken to the Ecclesiastical Court as Court of first jurisdiction and that the Code of Canon Law applied to this dispute between Father Rosica and the Catholic blogger in question:

"Canon 212 §3. According to the knowledge, competence, and prestige which they possess, they have the right and even at times the duty to manifest to the sacred pastors their opinion on matters which pertain to the good of the Church and to make their opinion known to the rest of the Christian faithful, without prejudice to the integrity of faith and morals, with reverence toward their pastors, and attentive to common advantage and the dignity of persons."

The entire legislative and judicial history of the Catholic Church (including the counsels of the New Testament) urges the members of the Church to resolve differences within the Church rather than at common law, Canadian or otherwise.

Catholic Blogger appears to have relied on the letter of Canon Law (above) and therefore under civil/tort/common law 'detrimentally relied' on the Church Herself, i.e. Father Rosica's employer, to speak boldly. Therefore I believe the matter is estopped on the civil side and must proceed to be heard in the ecclesiastical courts.

If anyone reads this opinion of mine and would want to pass it along to the blogger in question, I would have no objection.

OT have you read the interview by card. Bertone on the Huffington Post? Have a look and reflect about the strange case of Benedict's resignation....

There's a great Canadian blog called "The Heresy Hunter" that has been covering Rosica's nonsense for years. You have to go back in the archives a way, though.

Bertone said in the interview that, BEFORE the resignation, he (Bertone) told Ben XVI, "Holy Father, you must bestow upon us the third volume of 'Jesus of Nazareth' and the encyclopedia of faith, before you sign things over to Pope Francis." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/18/cardinal-tarcisio-bertone-pope_n_6699464.html Scroll down to "How surprised were you by his decision to leave?" Very curious, indeed!

"loss of civility, charity, mercy and politeness,”
Yes, exactly what may be applied to Fr Volpi for his destructive action against the FFI.

And I am sure that your 50 cent donation will be missed. How will Saint Peters ever pay the light bill?
Get over yourself and get to confession.

You have to remember that "conservative" something is not really anything at all. There is NO SUCH THING as a "Conservative Catholic". You are either entirely Catholic or you are ENTIRELY something else!

Little bit of projection there, eh Anonymous?

Voris is an irresponsible, self-interested shape shifter. Note his back flip and pike with tuck with Pope Francis at the synod and the sudden change of tack on Card Burke.

He attempted to undermine the authority of Card Pell in Sydney over the Church approved ministry to Catholic homosexuals. He tried the same stunt on the newly appointed Archbishop of Sydney Anthony Fisher a couple of years ago when he was a suffragan bishop.
Voris is a nasty piece of work, and embittered wannabe, poor in judgment, lacking insight and consumed with resentment.

Choose your heroes wisely.

I don't really like the generality of lay traditional mouthpieces, but Voris does good work, and I see no reason why it shouldn't be used.

I believe Father Rosica has committed a crime against a Canadian Citizen. Read below and share far and wide! In Canada, the 2008 version of the Criminal Code prohibits extortion as set out at §346(1):

"Every one commits extortion who, without reasonable justification or excuse and with intent to obtain anything, by threats, accusations, menaces or violence induces or attempts to induce any person, whether or not he is the person threatened, accused or menaced or to whom violence is shown, to do anything or cause anything to be done."

In R v Davis, Chief Justice lamer of Canada's Supreme Court wrote, in 1999:

"Extortion criminalizes intimidation and interference with freedom of choice. It punishes those who, through threats, accusations, menaces, or violence induce or attempt to induce their victims into doing anything or causing anything to be done. Threats, accusations, menaces and violence clearly intimidate. When threats are coupled with demands, there is an inducement to accede to the demands. This interferes with the victim's freedom of choice, as the victim may be coerced into doing something he or she would otherwise have chosen not to do."

I don't think there's anything wrong with what Dornet has said about Father Rosica.

You're talking about how he's supposed to have slandered people. Would you be so kind as to provide your name, address, contact information, and provide specific details about this alleged slander?

Boniface said...

He just did a great synopsis of Fr. Rosica's history going back to 2010:

Barnum said...

Has that section of the Code ever been enforced; if yes, against whom? To me, that law looks like it might be used against organized crime, and definitely against "conservatives."

You can comment on his blog. I agree with your opinion. And a civil court cannot be getting into questions of what constitutes heresy, relying on "expert" witnesses for the Plaintiff and others for the Defendant!!

The lawsuit would be in Canadian court not RCC court, and so far its only a threat. No lawsuit has actually been filed yet.
