Pope asks for Pentecostals Forgiveness: "Catholics Who Were Possessed by the Devil"

Pastor Traettino Pope and embrace
(Caserta) Upon the  "private" visit of the Pope by his "friend", the evangelical pastor Giovanni Traettino there were  more than 300 selected guests in Caserta. Pope Francis asked the Evangelicals and Pentecostals for forgiveness for the "assault and slander" that were committed by Catholics.  Literally, the Catholic Church's leader said: "Among those who are members of the Pentecostals were prosecuted or convicted, as if they were madmen who would destroy mankind, were also Catholics." Next, the Pope said: "I am the shepherd of the Catholics, and therefore ask you for forgiveness for those Catholic brothers and sisters who were possessed by the devil and did not understand anything."
Pope Francis said nothing about the timing, nature, and those responsible for the alleged persecution of Pentecostals by the Catholic Church. He also said nothing more about the "possession" of Catholics. The Pope's visit was based on the evangelical "brothers" visit with him at the Vatican. That's why he came to Caserta to meet the "brothers".
It is "a temptation to say: I am the Church, you are the sect. Jesus prayed for unity. The Holy Spirit creates diversity in the Church. He makes the differences. But then Holy Spirit makes the same unity and the church is one in diversity. A diversity reconciled through the Holy Spirit," said Pope Francis according to Lettera43.
It was the first time in a little more than the one hundred year history of the Protestant Pentecostal movement that  the first visit of a Catholic pope at a Pentecostal community took place. The Vatican stressed that the visit of the Pope is  "strictly private", but attached great value to the fact that the meeting is known. As mentioned at the meeting at the Vatican a number of leading evangelical preachers from the U.S. and other countries came to the meeting with the Pope to Caserta.
Following his address Pope Francis prayed the Our Father  with Pastor Traettino and the invited guests. This was followed by a lunch at the community center of Traettino's Denomination.

  1. What does Pope Francis believe the Catholic Church to be? Is it the same as what St. Pope Pius X understood it to be? This is truly disturbing stuff.

  2. Madness. I can only presume orthodox cardinals and bishops are protesting vigorously to the Pope. How much further scandal must be suffered before these subversive acts are protested publicly as required for the defence of the Faith and the salvation of souls?! St John Vianney, come to our aid.

    1. "orthodox cardinals'? This no longer exists in The Vatican City. Liberal modernism has swamped the church with men who have lost their sensus catholicus....any who are remotely in favour of The Latin Mass are also compromisers; imbued with the spirit of post-conciliar philosophies. The church is probably at its worst moment in its entire history since the apostasy is global. Not one has the courage to stand against the popular current nor do any of them have the orthodox Faith. They are all contaminated.

  3. Has anyone noticed how alive and happy Francis gets when he is in the midst of heretics? He seems right at home among Protestants and Jews and Muslims. He doesn't fit in Catholic settings or with the Orthodox, he always seems out of place. It's a disgrace that he refuses to genuflect at the consecration of the Mass but will crawl on the floor at the feet of Muslims and is quick to get on his knees before evangelicals. He is a scandal. Those cardinals who listened to the world instead of the Holy Spirit are to blame.

  4. I have to ask the question: Is the Pope possessed by the Devil? Why would he even think such a thing about Catholics; let alone say it in front of Protestants. This man is no vicar of Christ. His words and actions every day reveal that he is working for the other side.

    1. Don't know if he is but the third secret of Fatima said The Good Pope John feinted when he heard that a pope would come who was possessed by the devil. Whatever the case who is surprised about what this man says or does any longer? Who cares already I don't follow him (as Saint Thomas and several other saints advised) and 2017 is coming up rapidly so keep "counting beads" as Frannie likes to denigrate us.

    1. Yes. Apparently a couple of his predecessors had a touch of the same mental illness. Though In the case of Pope Francis it is full blown.

  6. We should support any effort of faithful Catholics to protest, block, and repudiate Pope Francis. He is absolutely not a legitimate Pope. For his actions he deserves no respect.
He is supposedly coming to my Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2015 for a meeting on families. Perhaps, with God;s Grace, he won't be here to make the trip.
I would never waste any time or money to go see this man in Philadelphia. But I would if it were Benedict XVI.
I would even spend money to see the Patriarch of the Orthodox, Bartolomew, or even to hear the Dalai Lama speak....before I would see Pope Francis. Because I know both are honorable men who have defended and suffered for their own faith. They have not cheapened and degraded it by word and action as has this Pope Francis.

  7. Yes, Your (cough, cough) Holiness, we know that Catholics can be possessed by the devil; no need to demonstrate.

  8. Wow this is just sick. This pope's words are not the words of Christ. Pentecostals and charismatics are one and the same. Stay away from them!

Stay with Tradition if you want to save your soul!!!

I agree with you. And I would go further to all Catholics around the world, stay away from Pope francis and like minded bishops, cardinals, priests, nuns, etc. Stay with Catholic tradition to save your soul! Pope Francis by word and deed is leading the Catholic Church to ruin.
    Avoid him at all cost!!

  10. Mgr. Fulton J. Sheen-Communism and the Conscience of the West (1948)

"[Satan] will set up a counterchurch which will be the ape of the [Catholic] Church. . . . It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content."

The Antichrist will not be so called; otherwise he would have no followers. He will not wear red tights, nor vomit sulphur, nor carry a trident nor wave an arrowed tail as Mephistopheles in Faust. This masquerade has helped the Devil convince men that he does not exist. When no man recognizes, the more power he exercises. God has defined Himsel as "I am Who am," and the Devil as "I am who am not."
Nowhere in Sacred Scripture do we find warrant for the popular myth of the Devil as a buffoon who is dressed like the first "red." Rather is he described as an angel fallen from heaven, as "the Prince of this world," whose business it is to tell us that there is no other world. His logic is simple: if there is no heaven there is no hell; if there is no hell, then there is no sin; if there is no sin, then there is no judge, and if there is no judgment then evil is good and good is evil. But above all these descriptions, Our Lord tells us that he will be so much like Himself that he would deceive even the elect--and certainly no devil ever seen in picture books could deceive even the elect. How will he come in this new age to win followers to his religion?
The pre-Communist Russian belief is that he will come disguised as the Great Humanitarian; he will talk peace, prosperity and plenty not as means to lead us to God, but as ends in themselves. . . .
. . . The third temptation in which Satan asked Christ to adore him and all the kingdoms of the world would be His, will become the temptation to have a new religion without a Cross, a liturgy without a world to come, a religion to destroy a religion, or a politics which is a religion--one that renders unto Caesar even the things that are God's.
In the midst of all his seeming love for humanity and his glib talk of freedom and equality, he will have one great secret which he will tell to no one: he will not believe in God. Because his religion will be brotherhood without the fatherhood of God, he will deceive even the elect. He will set up a counterchurch which will be the ape of the Church, because he, the Devil, is the ape of God. It will have all the notes and characteristics of the Church, but in reverse and emptied of its divine content. It will be a mystical body of the Antichrist that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ. . . .
. . . But the twentieth century will join the counterchurch because it claims to be infallible when its visible head speaks ex cathedra from Moscow on the subject of economics and politics, and as chief shepherd of world communism.

  11. Some of What Pope Leo XIII said in Apostolicae Curae comes to mind: "It would be tedious to enter into details, nor is it necessary to do so, as the history of that time is sufficiently eloquent as to the animus of [fill in the blank] against the Catholic Church; as to the abettors whom they associated with themselves from the heterodox sects; and as to the end they had in view. Being fully cognizant of the necessary connection between faith and worship, between 'the law of believing and the law of praying', under a pretext of returning to the primitive form, they corrupted [fill in the blank] in many ways to suit the errors of the reformers."

  13. Bergoglio is out to destroy the mass and the priesthood - unfortunately, it seems that 'ordained' for the past 50 years were creeps or liars -- so that either have been working right along w/him for the withering away of the priesthood and the mass or they've been keeping quiet and lying so long to 'stay in the priesthood' that they can't do anything else or like Mueller it is too little too late.

  14. Francis, stop your nonsense!July 29, 2014 at 2:15 PM

Soon they will canonize Martin Luther and open the cause for beatification of Calvin and Cranmer. Why not? It isn't much more absurd than putting halos on John XXIII and John Paul II.

This translates as "tempted by the devil", not "possessed by the devil".

    1. The German translation was also possessed. I'm guessing the official version differs from the one that was reported by the bloggers.

Also, even if "tempted" is what he really said, it's not a significant difference, as the one commenter at Katholisches who pointed this out was honest enough to admit.

  17. Is that not exactly what the High Priest of the Temple ,and the Pharisees said about Jesus Christ ,that he was possessed, so if Catholics are called possessed by Pope Francis ,he pays them a great compliment ,they follow in their Masters footsteps .

Fine if you and Jorge Bergoglio aka Pope Francis want to reach over and embrace in some diabolic union.

      What would Jesus do?

He would say get behind me Satan or cast out the unclean spirit.
