Two Seminarians Dismissed Over "Anti-Semitism"

Würzburg (kathnews/RV). "Anti-Semitism has no place in the Catholic Church." This conviction moved the Bishops of Bamberg and Würzburg, Ludwig Schick and Friedhelm Hofmann, who share a seminary to dismiss two seminarians. The information was released in Wednesday. The charge was that seminarians had celebrated the birthday of Adolfo Hitler and told anti-Semitic jokes, according to a commission employed by the Bishops. According to their recommendation, two seminarians were dismissed, a third is still awaiting a definitive decision. The Bishop of Bamberg Ludwig Schick explained to Cologne Cathedral Radio, that this misconduct was unacveptable. "It is thus in our society, that there are jokes like this, and that are incline people also to racism. The Church is as ever a part of this society. We want to do everything, so that such anti-Jewish and racist ideas are not present in our entire society and if so, they don't go unremedied. There we must begin with ourselves. Whoever wants to go into a humanistic society as a priest, must be completely free of racist ideas."

Against charges by the initial media reports of a "rightist network" that these are considered unfounded, said the Bishops in Wednesday in their statements, they found that alleged birthday celebrations for Hitler had no basis. On the contrary, the seminarians not concerned were hurt to be put in a right radical light, spiritual and educational efforts are necessary here, said Bishop. Archbishop Schick stressed again the basic principles which are valid for the Catholic Church. "We have clear expressions in Nostrae Aetate, the Decree of the Second Vatican Council, on non-Christian religions, where what clearly relates to Judaism, we repudiate the mistrust, violence, persecution of our bretheren, the Jews, and work with each otherfir a world, in which all may live, diversity in unity."

At the end of May Norbert Baumann, Judge of the Superior Court of Bamberg, and three other external consultants of the Bishops were engaged in an investigation. All seminarians were heard, In addition to appropriate education. The concluding report had over 200 pages and detailed the "completely unacceptable" racist statements of anti-Jewish jokes, and in addition, the attempt at trivializing and promoting misunderstanding of both both concerned.

  1. Apparently, and contrary to all Catholic practice and belief, there is only one unforgivable sin, the sin of joking about that one, particular dictator.

I wonder if they would have been expelled if they had made jokes about Stalin and his gulags. Somehow, I doubt it.

  2. Who are we to judge inclinations to homosex? But we all need be ever watchful for inclinations to judging "jewish" persons which sometimes add up to people, as anything but dear. Any person of this inclination will be judged very harshly.

  4. If they are found guilty they will be fined and possibly jailed. If this is their first jew joking offense, probably
just fined. And I'm not joking.

  5. Some jews make vile jokes about Jesus and they don't even get shushed. They just get money thrown at them.

    1. You should read their man-made "holy" book. The entire book is a hate crime.

  6. The fact of telling jokes about Jews is surely not enough to warrant such a drastic reaction? Have they been shown to hate people on account of they're being Jewish, and to foster such hate?

  7. I will pray to the Ratisbonne brothers that they intercede with the Almighty on behalf of:
    (1) the expelled seminarians that they realize crude anti-semitism is a sin against charity; rather they should understand that jews should be evangelized since otherwise they will be condemned at the final judgment;
    (2) prelates who similarly sin against charity by spreading the heresy that the old covenant is still in place and that jewish religious practices are a means of salvation; and
    (3) prelates who have forgotten that one of the duties of the Church is to resist the malign machinations of organized jewry against the Church and Catholics, or who falsely slander Catholics who do identify and resist the malign machinations of organized jewry as "crude anti semites".

  10. Elizabeth said, Gasp. Sputter. And these seminarians aren't even "radical traditionalists", are they?

Well, well. We can only wonder if in fact those seminarians are Traditionalists. Since we don't know the full story and evidently no effort was made on the part of the pants-wetting bishops (or of late, the media) to allow the seminarians' side of the story, we shall see whom actually said what.

IMO, I give the seminarians the benefit of the doubt, and I can just wonder whether they were speaking of the fact the Jews need Our Lord Jesus Christ just as much anyone else. Those bishops spewing that Nostrae Aetate routine is typical of the Modernist Church.

Persecution comes to mind. This is the irony of present-day Germany. It is so hyper-sensitive of the past, they've become what they dislike.

    1. My comment was in response to the 'persecute all traditionalists' going on these days. My sarcasm obviously just meant that mainstream Novus Ordo seminarians can have less than stellar character. However, you've given me a different way to look at it that I hadn't thought of. In fact, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the terrible utterings of these guys was simply that Jews need Our Lord as we all do. I look forward to hopefully hearing more of the story.

  12. The late, and very great, French Catholic philosopher Jean Madiran had very interesting thoughts on these matters. I have just today published the notice of his recent passing and included an article of his in which he discusses Catholic-Jewish relations. I ask pardon for "advertising" my blog here but the Madiran article is well worth reading in light of this.

  13. It is near a fait accompli. If one has a reputation in society one cannot tell serious truths about "the" jews.
and when it came to pass that the Catholic Church could no longer tell truths concerning jews it was de facto accomplished.

  15. Well, take heart, folks. Italy is becoming the same thing. A bill is before Parliament criminalizing any negative speech against the homosexualsists. Really.

Well, there goes that trip we had been planning to Rome. Why spend a cent there with laws which are actually (and we know this to be a fact) designed to give the finger to the Church?

As it is, slowly but surely these things tell us the times. Funny though. How this "creep of sharia law" everyone is whispering about square with all of this pro-gay stuff? Interesting clash of values.

    1. You are right on both points. I had always thought that the Italian Government protected the Vatican seeing that it was in their interest to do so. I don't
see the logic in this move. Well maybe in fact I do. Pressure from the EU and European Central Bank. And as for creeping sharia talk comes from alarmists and propagandists for Israel. The latter creating the alarm.

  16. Where in the Bible is is said that 'this thing called [sic] anti-semitism' is a SIN?

NOWHERE. IF the Church is Israel now (and she is- Gal. 6:16) and our Lord has taken away the covenant and given it to 'another who will bear fruit' - and He has- how do the Deicides 'rate' in this Novus Ordo confab known as the RCC?

Also, what of those who ARE Jewish, who deny the fact that such as thing as Semitism even exists among their own- so how can anyone critiquing Jews, be considered 'anti' - if the Jew aren't even Semites!?!??!

Men such as Benjamin Freedman [Jesus was not a Jew] Arthur Koestler [The Thirteenth Tribe] and Schlomo Sand [ The INVENTION of the Jewish People, etc.]?

Or do only those with SPLC, ADL, and Zionist and AshkeNAZI credentials, count in our brave new Papacy?

    Misericordie, Domine.

    1. Arthur Koestler received almost universal opprobrium for exposing the Gulag in Soviet Union, but he was no friend of the revolutionary Jews, either and it ruined his literary reputation.

    2. If a person was very cynical like myself (only about jews thanks to jews) a person would say WWII in a sense is the best thing that ever happened to jews. Look at all the benefits they
have reaped. But they always so overstepped the bounds of reason, truth and decency they always created ill feelings. According to them if anyone(s) is/are not pro-jewish they are anti. But it doesn't always work that way as it doesn't in many other things. It is an illogical precept. But because they always loudly claim this, the natural consequence is that many who weren't anti become so because said jews caused it through their actions. One such action is that they have discredited and ruined reputations and careers of numerous people who dare to expose truths. Indeed they have been vicious when they see it as necessary. Necessary according to them. And indeed they have openly guilted Christians and most particularly the Catholic Church with particular satisfaction into
accepting a responsibility for the "Worst Crime in the History of the world" a gift that keeps on giving. Who cannot find this Obnoxious?
And Abe Foxman is working to find ways to prevent the
internet from publishing comments like this. A. Obnoxious F. interview at NewsMax.

  18. The list goes on and on but the jews successfully tagged Henry Ford an Anti Semite although The International Jew just addressed many facts. Only one fact and individually cited incidents as to how the jewish leaders were continually complaining of public individuals calling America a Christian nation. What on earth right did they have to complain of this. To them Christian equal Anti Semite. So now of course we are a judaeo-Christian nation. Small c in fact. jewish intellectuals are very effective in social and psychological conditioning. Who has been and is behind so many social movements and legal rulings, government laws and policies, jews. But so many people aren't aware of this.
They are presently just for example behind the extreme environmental movement, the extreme security industry and of course the Homosexual movement. Some of their schemes are
money driven and some the destruction of Christianity. And of course they marry the two if they find it in anyway possible. How is it that so many Catholics have thrown in with these people who are destroyers of everything they have always held dear?

  19. Providentially, we can be so sure that would any young man in this Seminary dare even raise a whiff of questioning a dogma of the Faith, he would be dismissed on the spot.

Oh, wait. Silly me. We have sung a newchurch into being!

  20. John Paul II and Benedict XVI reinterpreted the gospels, the apostles and other saints and Jesus Himself through visible actions and not as visible writings on the question of Jews and jews. Now the Church of Jesus God Incarnate and His Apostles, The Holy Catholic Church is the Judaeo-Catholic Church. So who are we to believe?
